The Lego City Advent Calendar 2010 Is Here!

Then world-famous Lego brand is at it again with its latest release in the form of the Lego City Advent Calendar 2010.  From all appearances, it appears to be a worthy successor to the 2005-2009 Advent calendars also issued by the Lego Company albeit with fewer figurines and more elements.

Lego City Advent Calendar 2010 (Lego 2824)

Like all Advent calendars, said Lego calendar provides an opportunity for kids and the kids at heart – namely, parents, grandparents and other adult relatives – to enjoy the countdown to Christmas Day.  Advent starts on December 1 and ends on Christmas Eve, December 24, such that parents must purchase the Lego calendar before Advent itself.  Otherwise, the main purpose of the toy will be defeated unless, of course, it is being purchased as part of a collection instead of being actually opened and used.

Each Lego City Advent Calendarhas 24 windows – one for each day of the countdown to Advent.  Behind each window is a gift in the form of a mini-toy that, when accumulated, completes the appearance of a Lego city during the Christmas holiday.  The mini-toys consist of both Christmas-related items like Santa Claus, Christmas tree and ice skates and everyday pieces such grills, furniture and tools.

Due to the small nature of the pieces, children 3 years old and below should not be allowed to play with the set as choking is an ever-present possibility.  Kids 5 years old and above can play with the Advent calendar.  When shipped, the entire set weighs in at 3.5 pounds and measures 15 x 2.8 x 10.3 inches.

Another good thing about the Lego City Advent Calendar 2010 is that the pieces are completely interchangeable with the other Lego sets issued and still to be issued by the company.  In this way, you can create and re-create worlds of your own where the Lego figures, buildings and accessories are the stars.  Or rather, you and your kids can make the building block activity shared quality time.

All in all, the set can quickly run out in many stores and sites – for the Lego 2824 are well worth the benefits.  After all, chocolates and candies in traditional advent calendars are good except when you are worrying about children’s cavities on the teeth.
